Emulsion
A monster collector where you catch creatures by photographing their souls. A sharp photo is a strong soul, and the instant photos are your battle cards. 174 animatids, 10 places, 10 photographers to beat.
Get it on itch.ioEvery photo holds a soul.
Your grandfather was a photographer. Forty years ago the animatids came, and he walked out into it with an old camera and held them still, one photograph at a time. Then it was over, and everyone forgot.
Now they're back. He left you the camera, a notebook in his handwriting, and one Polaroid with something in it.
You catch animatids by photographing them. Weaken one in a fight, raise the camera, and wait for the lens to find its focus. A sharp photo is a strong soul, for good. A blurry one still catches it, just weaker, which is why you'll want to go back for a better one.
When you fight, you throw the Polaroid down and the animatid climbs up out of it.
What is in it
174 animatids to photograph, across 10 places. Each place has a photographer who knew your grandfather, and a boss.
12 kinds that beat each other round a circle. Light and void beat each other.
59 skills, levels, a party of eight, and fights of one or two a side.
The first animatid he left you can become any of nine forms. You choose which.
A film shop, a bag, better cameras as you go, and 20 people to talk to.
It is made to be finished in about a week if you're not rushing.
The limits, before you buy
The artwork and the music are made with AI tools. I'd rather you knew that before you decide than after.
There's an ambient soundtrack, but no sound effects yet.
Windows and Android only. There is no iPhone version, because making one needs a Mac and $99 a year.
The Android version is an APK file from here, not from the Play Store, so your phone will ask whether to allow it.
If you finish it, tell me which form you turned the kitvix into, and why.
