Razyr OS

A computer that doesn't exist - the one this laptop is wearing. Buy old things cheap, fill your shelves, sell the rest for more.

Finished, and waiting its turn to go out on itch.io. No date - it goes when the one before it has had its time.

The whole game is a computer.

It sits on a desk in a dark room, and it runs Razyr OS - an operating system that doesn't exist. Glass windows that snap to the edges, a dock, workspaces, a terminal, themes. You start with one screen and four hundred dollars.

Old things are for sale on Flipside: tapes, consoles, sneakers, figures, art prints, cans of a drink called VOLT-97. Some are cheap. Some are fair. A few sellers are lying. Buy low, put the good ones on the shelves behind your desk, and sell the rest for more. Buyers message you in Reaver to haggle. Morning Static prints what's selling every morning, and prices move with it.

What is in it

21 apps: a market, a shop, a warehouse, chat, mail, the news, a browser, a terminal, a music player, notes, paint, a photo editor, small games, and Ora, an assistant who knows the place.

91 things to collect, in 9 kinds. Each one comes Mint, Near Mint, Good or Worn, some in other colours, and a few as shimmering foil limited editions.

Auctions with a countdown, mystery boxes, a sealed estate lot every day, and side jobs when money runs short.

5 kinds of monitor and 8 spots on the desk. Set it up like mine for an achievement. Fill every spot and you're on your own.

6 shelves on the wall, five things each. They gather dust. Picking something up to look at it wears it a little.

12 songs on The Wire, all mine.

Two ways to play: Career, where you build up from $400, and Sandbox, where money never runs out.

There's something on this computer that was here before you. It never gets scary.

Nothing in it goes online. Ora is scripted, not an AI chat, and the only time it touches your own files is when you pick one picture to bring into the photo editor.

It's free. There's a five dollar donation on the page if you want to leave one, and nothing in the game is behind it.

I use AI tools in making my games.

It runs in the browser on a computer with a mouse and keyboard - not on phones. The download is for Windows. The first time you run it, Windows says "Windows protected your PC" - press More info, then Run anyway.

The artwork and the music are made with AI tools. The ideas, the stories, the rules of every game and the decisions about what stays in are mine. That is said here, in every game, and on every store page, because you should know it before you decide rather than after.
